In my Marfa studio, I work with forces I cannot control. The wood-fired kiln burns for five days, reaching temperatures that transform local clay and ash into surfaces no glaze recipe could predict. Each piece carries the memory of desert minerals and the unpredictable beauty of flame.
I moved here for the raw materials—iron-rich clay from the Big Bend, mesquite and oak that grows wild in this landscape. The isolation allows me to work in seasonal rhythms, making intensively then stepping back for contemplative firing cycles.
